Gerbrich Meijer

A brief introduction

Gerbrich Meijer, originally from the Netherlands, is an internationally active chamber musician, soloist, and orchestral player. The 2025 season highlights her solo debut with the National Radio Orchestra of the Netherlands at TivoliVredenburg and the Concertgebouw Amsterdam. She will also receive the prestigious Alumni Award of the Music Academy of the West and has been named a Concertgebouw Young Dutch Artist.

Her debut album with AVRO TROS was recently released. In 2024, she won the Audience Prize of the Dutch Classical Talent Award with her innovative One Woman Show. Her accolades also include a nomination for the Grachtenfestival Award (2022)  and the Special Prize at the Carl Nielsen International Competition (2022).

Gerbrich holds a Master of Music degree from the Colburn Conservatory in Los Angeles, where she studied with Professor Yehuda Gilad, and has completed her Soloist Class degree at the Royal Danish Academy of Music with Johnny Teyssier. She previously earned her Bachelor’s with highest distinction under John Kruse at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen.

She is a frequent guest with leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Danish Radio Symphony, Rotterdam Philharmonic, and Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra. Her three-year summer attendance at the Music Academy of the West (2020–2022) was a formative period, earning her the London Symphony Orchestra Keston Max Fellowship and inspiring much of her creative development.

In 2017–2019, Gerbrich served as Principal Clarinet of the European Union Youth Orchestra, performing in Europe’s most prestigious halls. In 2022, she appeared as soloist with ensembles including the Camerata Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
